Importing from Taiwan to the Philippines: FAQ
How is import duty calculated for goods shipped from Taiwan to the Philippines?
Duty is the tariff rate for the product's HS code multiplied by the dutiable value. The Philippines assesses ad valorem duty on the CIF value: the price of the goods plus the cost of international freight and insurance to the point of entry. Import VAT is then charged at 12% on CIF + duty. Enter your HS code or a product description above to get the exact rate for your goods.
What is the import VAT rate in the Philippines?
The standard rate used by the calculator is 12% (VAT), charged on CIF + duty.
Is there a de minimis threshold for imports into the Philippines?
Shipments valued at or below PHP 10,000 are exempt from customs duty. The same threshold applies to import taxes.
Is shipping cost included in the dutiable value in the Philippines?
Yes. The Philippines uses CIF valuation, so international freight and insurance are added to the price of the goods before duty is calculated. Enter them in the shipping and insurance fields above.
Are there customs fees on top of duty in the Philippines?
The calculator applies no ad valorem entry fees or statutory surcharges for the Philippines. Broker, carrier and storage charges are not included.
What currency are duties paid in for the Philippines?
Duties and import taxes in the Philippines are assessed in PHP. The calculator above accepts an invoice in USD or PHP and reports the result in the invoice currency you choose.
Do goods from Taiwan get a preferential duty rate in the Philippines?
No trade agreement covering both Taiwan and the Philippines is on file in the LandedFees trade agreement database, so the calculator uses the standard (MFN) rate. Additional duties that depend on origin are applied where the tariff data has them.
