Multi-entity tier gate
Free and Pro tiers cap at one entity per workspace. Growth tier and above unlock multi-entity for importers operating across countries.
Multi-entity tier gate
LandedFees caps the number of entities per workspace by tier. Free and Pro are single-entity: one importer of record per workspace. Growth and above are multi-entity: hold as many legal importers as you have. This is a hard gate at the database level (LFQG-153), not a soft UI cap, so upgrading is the only way to hold more than one entity.
The gate exists because multi-entity users are almost always mid-market or larger, running distinct legal importers in the US, EU, UK, and Mexico. The Growth tier's price and feature set are calibrated for that shape of customer.
How the gate behaves
On Free or Pro, /entities shows your single entity and a button to add one more, gated behind an upgrade prompt. Clicking through routes to /pricing with the Growth tier highlighted.
Upgrading to Growth immediately unlocks the multi-entity flow. Existing calculations and audits stay attached to your original entity; new entities you create pick up filings from that point forward.
Downgrading from Growth back to Pro or Free while holding multiple entities is not permitted. Delete or archive the extra entities first, then downgrade.
Who needs multi-entity
Importers who run distinct legal companies in multiple countries. Common shapes: a US LLC plus a Canadian corp plus a Mexican SA de CV, or a UK Ltd plus an EU BV. Broker workspace and multi-entity are gated together on Growth because the two features complement each other: multi-entity importers usually work with more than one broker.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have multiple workspaces on Free to work around the gate
Yes but not usefully. Each workspace has its own tier, its own team, its own billing, and its own audit history. If you legitimately have multiple orgs (not just multiple entities), separate workspaces is the right shape. If you have one org with multiple legal importers, upgrade to Growth.
What tier is required for a single entity in more than one country
Not the country that gates it; the number of entities. One legal entity is Free-tier compatible regardless of how many countries it imports into. Two entities requires Growth.
Are there SSO tiers involved
SSO is a separate gate, on Business tier and above. Multi-entity is on Growth and above.
Does the API respect this gate
Yes. POST /v1/entities returns 403 on Free and Pro when the workspace already has one entity. Every gate is enforced server-side, not client-side.
